Excellent! Caprivi Car hire is a local long standing familiy owned car rental agency. I have hired a car (Toyota Fortuner 4x4) from them for 3 weeks in May/June 2021 for a self drive tour of Namibia.
Pros:
- The booking procedure was fast with a very fair offer. The contact with Karin was very professional and kind. Any question were answered and they provide extra equipment on request (like sat phone).
- Pick up at the airport (and drop off) is included and was on time, times were confirmed in advance.
- Instructions on how to drive the car and tools included are very complete and thorough.
- The car was in an excellent condition. When driving the car I did not encounter any issue although I have had very limited experience with driving gravel roads let alone sand up to this point. You can drive the car into Sossus!
- They provide 2 spare tyres. When problems occur you can contact them 24/7 and they will help! When I had a slow puncture because of potholes in Etosha I called at 6:30am and changed the tyre. Because they have many associated car repair shops around the country the punctured tyre was repaired only a couple of hours later, Karin organized everything.

Please note that despite Covid travelling in Namibia is very safe. Because all sights are outside and population density is one of the lowest worldwide,, social distancing is easy.
